Field Sketch, Red Rocks Of Sedona, oil, 8 x 6 in., NFS

Painted on location, en plein air, the view was breathtaking. I painted this sketch, like so many others, standing on the side of the road, which is a major artery between Sedona and Phoenix. After a short time, snow flurries began and ultimately dictated when the painting was finished.

Field Sketch, "Road to Dubois", 8 x 6 in.

Original field sketch painted in Wyoming, during an early May snowstorm.
This was the source sketch for "Bears in Snow", posted last year.

Stiletto: Sunny Day Before the Storm

I am currently in Baltimore MD., taking care of my dad. It snowed two days ago, with a fine dusting still visible. More snow is predicted in a few days. For a transplanted Southerner, a few inches might as well be a few feet. This painting, of one of my favorite sailboats, was painted on location, a plein air, on a sunny afternoon several years before Katrina.

One of my very favorite paintings, the cat in the poster closely resembles my calico, Celeste. This painting was featured in the November 2005 Plein Air article "The Magic of Miniatures".

"Homer's Bermuda & Cherries #1", oil, Sold

One of four, I seem to revisit this theme often. I thoroughly enjoy painting white objects, cherries and other red fruits and veggies, and always enjoy an homage to Winslow Homer.
