This is the midway version of this painting. Some of the darks have dropped out and will need to be reinforced. After careful thought, I wiped out the day's work on the silver creamer. The highlights were too high and the modeling looked too grayed -out to my eye. Sometimes the best thing is to wait a few days and come back with a fresh eye.

Stiletto: Sunny Day Before the Storm
I am currently in Baltimore MD., taking care of my dad. It snowed two days ago, with a fine dusting still visible. More snow is predicted in a few days. For a transplanted Southerner, a few inches might as well be a few feet. This painting, of one of my favorite sailboats, was painted on location, a plein air, on a sunny afternoon several years before Katrina.
